The Houston Texans had an excellent season in 2018. Few people thought the team would make the playoffs. Despite numerous injuries to star players, the team was able to win the division. The Texans lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Colts. After the game, the organization started preparing for the offseason. The Texans have multiple holes in the roster to fill. There are several positions where the team may try to upgrade players through the draft or free agency.

Offensive Line

Deshaun Watson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. In 2017, he suffered a terrible injury that some people thought could ruin his career. However, he worked hard in rehab so he could return for the 2018 season. Despite a slow start, Watson finished the season strong. He was able to lead the Texans to various wins despite playing behind a bad offensive line. The offensive line is a huge priority for the 2019 season. The team must upgrade some of the players to keep Watson healthy. Although the running game was strong last year, the offensive line struggled to protect Watson on passing plays.

The Texans have one of the strongest defenses in the NFL. However, specific positions need to be upgraded if the team is going to compete for a championship. The Texans need to draft talented cornerbacks this year. The team struggled to defend offenses with a robust passing attack last season. When the Texans faced the Colts in the playoffs, the defense gave up multiple passing touchdowns.

Other Goals

The Texans do not have a lot of salary cap space. The organization needs to cut players who are taking up a lot of salary cap space. The team has several aging players who are no longer contributing at a high level.
